COMPOSING A LIFE OF ATTENTION

Journey

A Portfolio Takes Shape

An 8-player chamber work, an orchestral work with fixed media, and a solo piano work enter final development.

Their sources connect Yi documentary fieldwork, porcelain-workshop sounds, and a 1938 wartime university route.

Listening in the Field

Filmed and scored a 23-minute documentary about Yi cultural heritage in southwest China.

Recorded sounds of traditional porcelain making in Jiangxi for an orchestral work with fixed media.

Retracing a Wartime University Route

Followed the 1938 migration route of National Southwest Associated University, known as Lianda.

Co-authored Travel Slowly—Behold the World with his mother, writing half of the text.

Learning to Observe

Childhood visits to Tibetan and Yi communities led to two summers documenting Tibetan pastoral life in western Sichuan.

Created “Those Vegetables, Those People,” a 10-minute short film shaped by observation and follow-up filming in a local market.

A Practice Begins

Became the first pilot student in CHA’s U.S.-curriculum online high school pathway.
